PAMELA NEWMAN, LCSW-C
About Me:

I work with teens, young adults, and women—especially mothers—who are managing a lot on the outside, but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or not quite like themselves underneath it all.
I’m especially passionate about supporting teenagers and young adults as they navigate identity, confidence, and the challenges that come with growing up. I also work closely with women and mothers who are balancing the demands of family, career, and everything in between—often while carrying stress, burnout, or the pressure to keep everything running smoothly.
My approach is collaborative, practical, and flexible. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, attachment, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed approaches, but I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy.
Together, we focus on helping you better understand yourself, gain insight, and develop strategies that actually work in your day-to-day life.
Over the past 16+ years, I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients across outpatient mental health and school settings. Much of my early work focused on adolescents in special education, including those with learning differences and autism spectrum disorders, both individually and in group settings. That experience continues to shape how I support teens and families today.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Catholic University in Washington, DC, and I am a Board Certified Clinical Supervisor in Maryland. I’ve also provided trainings for parents, staff, and organizations on topics such as behavior management, bullying, parent burnout, and internet safety.
In 2012, I established PRN Counseling, LLC with the vision of creating a boutique practice with compassionate therapists who prioritize their clients' well-being. Our goal is to ensure that every individual who seeks our services feels heard and understood, leaving each session feeling motivated to continue making progress.
On a more personal note, I’m a mom of three, have been married for over a decade, and am a Montgomery County native and third-generation Washingtonian. When I’m not working, you can usually find me listening to music, going to the theater, working on a craft project, or—like many parents—spending a lot of time driving my kids to their activities.
