PAMELA NEWMAN, LCSW-C 

About Me:

My passion is working with teenagers and young adults, helping them discover themselves and navigate the challenges of becoming more self-assured and self-aware. I want to create a space where individuals can feel comfortable sharing and are able to gain insight into themselves.

 I enjoy working with women (especially moms) to help them manage stress, overwhelm, and feelings of burnout. 

My career over the last 16+ years has allowed me the opportunity to work with a diverse population of clients from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, experiencing a variety of life struggles. 

 I received my Masters in Clinical Social Work from Catholic University in Washington, DC and have worked in outpatient mental health as well as the school setting. Much of my experience prior to private practice has been working in special education with adolescents diagnosed with learning differences and/or on the autism spectrum both individually and in groups. I have an eclectic style and utilize multiple theoretical styles including cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, attachment, trauma and psychodynamic theories. I believe creativity and flexibility are important parts of the therapeutic practice.

 I am a Board Certified Clinical Supervisor for the state of Maryland. Additionally, I have run several staff, client and parent psycho-educational training on subjects such as bullying, behavior management, managing parent burnout, and internet safety.

I am licensed in Maryland and for virtual sessions in Vermont.      

In 2012, I established PRN Counseling, LLC with the vision of creating a boutique practice with compassionate therapists who prioritize their clients' well-being. Our goal is to ensure that every individual who seeks our services feels heard and understood, and leaves each session feeling motivated to continue making progress.

I am a mom of three, I've been married for 10 years, and I am a Montgomery County, MD native and a 3rd generation Washingtonian! In my free time, I love music, theater, movies, crafting and schlepping my kids to various activities :)
