MARJORIE THEARD, LCSW-C

For the past 20+ years, I have worked with children, adolescents and their families both as a special education teacher and a Clinical Social Worker. I specialize in anxiety, social skills and behavioral struggles at home and at school, challenges with inflexibility, problem solving, neurodiversity and Autism spectrum.

Upon receiving a Masters of Teaching in special education, I taught for many years at a leading private special education school in Maryland. Years later, I obtained a Masters in Social Work. 

           

Most of my career has been spent working with children and adolescents in and out of the classroom.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic, but draws primarily from CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) , play therapy, and client centered therapy. I have a bi-cultural background and speak French fluently. In addition, I have lived and traveled extensively overseas which gives me a unique understanding of multicultural issues.
